In a heartwarming turn of events, the Winnipeg Jets have announced that veteran forward Bryan Little will be signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of the team. This news comes as a fitting tribute to the 36-year-old, who will be honored in a special ceremony prior to the Jets’ game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 20.
Little’s last appearance in the NHL was during the 2019-20 season, where he managed to record two goals and five points in just seven games before injury cut his season short. It was in his final game that tragedy struck as he took a shot off his ear, resulting in a punctured eardrum and a concussion, effectively ending his career.

Little’s journey with the Jets was not without its ups and downs. Despite signing a lucrative six-year, $31.75 million contract with the team, he was eventually traded to the Arizona Coyotes (now known as the Utah Hockey Club) before his contract expired at the end of last season.
Hailing from Edmonton, Little also had the honor of representing Canada at the 2007 World Juniors, where he made a significant impact by contributing a goal and two points to the team’s gold-medal finish.
As the hockey world prepares to bid farewell to a true legend of the game, Little’s legacy will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come. His contributions on and off the ice have left an indelible mark on the sport, and his retirement as a Jet serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring impact he has had on the franchise.
