In a surprising turn of events, the St. Louis Blues have revealed a minor alteration to their ownership group. The new addition comes in the form of Michael Riney, who is now a proud co-owner of a portion of the team.
Riney, an esteemed figure as the Founder and Managing Director of QRM Capital, is no stranger to the world of private investments and philanthropic endeavors, particularly in the St. Louis region. His impressive resume includes serving on the boards of renowned institutions such as Washington University, the Danforth Plant Science Center, and the Missouri Botanical Garden.
Joining Riney in the ownership structure are a distinguished group of individuals, including Donn Lux, Jerald Kent, James Cooper, Jo Ann Taylor Kindle, Steve Maritz, Edward Potter, Andrew Taylor, James Kavanaugh, John Danforth, Christopher Danforth, Jim Johnson III, Scott McCuaig, John Ross, Jr., and Tom Schlafly. Together, they form a formidable team dedicated to guiding the Blues towards continued success.
Since his acquisition of the team in May 2012, Tom Stillman has overseen a period of remarkable achievement for the Blues. With an impressive playoff record that saw them qualify for the postseason in all but three seasons, the Blues have also made waves by reaching the Western Conference Final twice. The pinnacle of their success came in 2019 when they clinched their first-ever Stanley Cup victory.
Not content with just playoff success, the Blues have also left their mark on the regular season. They participated in their first Winter Classic in 2017, hosting the game at Busch Stadium, before returning to the Winter Classic stage in 2022 in Minnesota. This upcoming season, the Blues are set to appear in their third Winter Classic, where they will reignite their age-old rivalry with the Chicago Blackhawks. Additionally, the Blues had the honor of hosting the 2020 All-Star Game, with four of their players proudly representing the host team.
Amidst recent struggles, there is a sense of optimism surrounding the future of the Blues under the Stillman era. As they navigate the ever-competitive landscape of the NHL, one thing remains certain – the Blues are a team with a rich history and a promising future.
As the Blues forge ahead towards new horizons, the addition of Michael Riney to their ownership group signals a fresh chapter in their storied journey. With a blend of experience, passion, and commitment, the Blues are poised to continue their legacy of greatness in the world of hockey.
